Episode 094

Last week, James and Stefan told you they’d have new toys to talk about on the show. The Gods of Logistics have ruined that dream. But have no fear, there’s always something to discuss. On this week’s episode: The Amazon Phone leaked. The iPhone 6 leaked (kind of). The LG G3 leaked (at least the box did). The fingerprint reader in the Galaxy S5 was hacked. And Google bought Titan Aerospace.

More importantly, they answered seven listener questions, which has to be some kind of record: What do you guys think about Heartbleed and privacy in general? Will Microsoft ruin Nokia after the acquisition? Which flagship (Android) phone should I buy? Why doesn’t the new fancy keyboard in Windows Phone 8.1 support my language? What’s your favorite podcast and podcast app? When will Xiaomi come to the United States? Are there any apps I can install on my Android phone that will show me what’s killing my battery?

As always, feedback is appreciated, and if you use iTunes to listen to The Voicemail, do James and Stefan a solid and rate the show. It makes the show move up the charts, which translates into more listeners.

Loving the show as usual. Especially how you make us feel as if we are just listening in to your conversation.

Slightly disappointed that you didn’t mention the fact Windows phone 8.1 (I can hear Stefan’s distain already) is released to anyone who wants it. But hey who cares about the 10% (in the UK and Czech markets) 😋

    1. Stefan Constantinescu says:

We’ll definitely come back to WP 8.1 when it starts showing on shipping devices and via OTA updates. The preview that developers have access to is just that, a preview.

      1. I know it’s billed as a preview, however WPCental – here – says that it is the same OS update that we’ll get when it’s released live…

but again, clutching at nothing that important…

        Keep it up you guys…

  2. Joseph Fallon says:

Thanks for doing my question men.

Looking out for a new hobby so will give the cocaine fuelled thingy a bash – thanks Stefan.

Some market questions for you for your next podcast:
    1. If the new phone from OnePlusOne is as good as the tech blogs are saying, can it actually put pricing pressure on other hardware vendors?
    2. Given that the S5 came in basically at the same price as the S4 and the iPhone, do any of the renewed S5 Prime rumors make sense? Is there any market for an even more expensive Samsung phone? Or would Samsung drop the S5’s price as quickly as a rumored release would dictate?
    3. If the Z2 is such a compelling phone, why can’t Sony land carrier partners in the US for it?
